The Interior Running Association strives to promote running and fitness in the Southern Interior of BC with a series of road and trail races hosted by member clubs in communities throughout the Okanagan and Thompson regions.
The Canadian Tire Road Race Series consists of races from 5 km to half marathon (21 km) distances. The routes are interesting, scenic, sometimes challenging, primarily on roads, but some with paved and gravel pathways.
The Starting Block Cross Country Series includes trail races of 9-10 km distances, mostly in community or Provincial parks.
Participation is encouraged with points awarded for finishing positions in each age group. Series points accumulate for annual awards in each age group.
Come out and enjoy the camaraderie of the Interior running community as member clubs share and showcase the best running routes in their areas.
We maintain a full archive of our previous news, results and race reports. To read more about the history of the Interior Running Association read "The History of the Interior Running Association" article by one of the founding members, Bill Stephens.

John grew up as a trail and cross-country runner but is keen to do the occasional road run. He has been part of the Interior Running Association for the past 5+ years and recently completed his first 'Legs of Steel'.
He believes that races are a fantastic excuse to explore the Thompson and Okanagan region and to remind us what and incredible area this is.
Peter has been a runner for most of his life. He started running in Grade 9, (1958) and has kept at it, more or less consistently, for 57 years. He started keeping a running log in 1971, and it adds up to more than 100,000 kilometres as of today!
He has been on the executive for four years and has taken over the responsibility for the results computer and generating the overall, age category, and age rated results for the Canadian Tire Road Race Series.
Leslie just returned to the organized running scene last year after the “launch” of her youngest child. She was immediately inspired by the incredible people she has met in the running world and was impressed with the organization of the IRA events. She hopes to become more involved in the races this year and is especially looking forward to the x-country series.
She's a mom and she loves to run.
Many thanks to everyone past, present and future who has voluteered their time to allow the Interior Running Assocation and its member clubs achieve all that they have. If you are keen on volunteering for any event or are interested in serving on the executive please contact us.
