IRA road race series 2020
Welcome to the Interior Running Association road race series for 2020! We hold an annual race series of both road and cross country races, held throughout the beautiful interior BC.
The 2020 series comprises of eight races, ranging from 5K to half-marathon in distance. We welcome all ages and abilities for a single race in the series, or as many races as able. Series points are given at each race and results are calculated on both clock time and age-graded time. At the completion of the series, awards are given to age-group winners and the age-graded winner.
To encourage fair and safe racing we ask all participants to adhere to the Road Race Etiquette Guidelines as published by BC Athletics.
NOTE: WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING THE SERIES FOR 2020!
Any athlete who is able to complete all of the road series events in 2020 is honored with an Interior Running Association Iron Legs award.
Legs of Steel
Those few athletes who are able to complete all of the road series events and the cross country series events in a single year is awarded with the Interior Running Association Legs of Steel!
Road Race Series
The Starting Block 10K
A relatively flat, certified, 10K route on scenic rural roads around Lavington. The race, organised by the Kal Rats, is part of the local Vernon Winter Carnival and features an out and back section and a slight downhill finish. There is also with 3K fun run which is not timed and does not count towards series points.
Spring Runoff 10K - cancelled/postponed (awaiting decision from KRRC as to whether the race will be rescheduled)
Certified 10K course. A very flat route along wide and quiet roads following the North Thompson River and looping back. New for this year is a 5K route following after the 10K. Note: only the 10K counts towards series points and standings.
