BEST PRACTICE RECOMMENDATIONS

The Interior Running Series races are sanctioned by BCAthletics and we recommend IRA race directors and participants to continue to practice all required health and safety protocols. We also encourage race directors/organizers to follow BCAthletic’s Current Best Practice for their events.   https://www.bcathletics.org/Content/covid-19-updates/199/

As of February 1, 2022, the current BCAthletic’s Best Practice for in-person races are as follows:

-Masks in the start/finish chutes, before and after run. They can be removed once crossing the start line.

– Masks at packet pickup.

-No indoor portion.

-Food/Water – single serve. Don’t have food water that everyone is putting their hand on / into.

-Reduce touch points – ie separate pins, don’t have a box everyone would dip into.

-Have hand sanitizer stations available.

-Encourage physical distancing.

Race directors/organizers may implement additional health and safety protocols, such as proof of vaccination, to help ensure that their in-person event is safe for all participants and volunteers. Due to the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, race organizers for The Starting Block 10K on February 13, 2022, are requiring proof of vaccination in addition to the BCAthletics Best Practices.

Health Orders change frequently and without notice. The goal of your IRA executive and your series race organizers is to provide in-person events that are safe for our participants and volunteers. We appreciate the efforts of the race organizers and the support of the participants in ensuring that these events are safe for everyone.
